Hello, my friends!
Has it been a month already? Well, so it has. And what a month it's been!
June kicked off with the last half of Star Wars Weekends, and once again, I am so blessed to be a part of that cast. The community, camaraderie, and charisma are so evident with the cast, the crew, and even the hosts, who are the recurring favorites Ashley Eckstein and James Arnold Taylor. :) The memories are priceless; UTTINI! :D Oh, and may the Force be with you! :D
Also, my dear friend Dean Gaschler retired from the Walt Disney Company this month. He has worked for Disney for twenty-one years, the last seven of which he's been the Grand Marshal Coordinator for the Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade at the Magic Kingdom. I was able to befriend him with Mickey Mouse, who waved to him every day on parade route as Dean sent out the Grand Marshals. Also, Dean and I both attend the same church, God's House Orlando, and that cemented our friendship. His retirement party was heavily attended, and he is already greatly missed by the parade family at Disney. His next venture? Writing a book about all his Disney experiences! :D I can't wait to read it! :)
This month has also been busy with finding a doctor, dentist, and eye doctor down here. Since I've lived here for about six years now, I figure it was time to finally find the said professionals in Florida as opposed to seeing them once a year on my annual visit back to Idaho. ;) Accordingly, I found a Dr. Lara, who seems friendly and professional, a Dr. Holehouse, who will be my dentist, and a Dr. Dempsey, who will be my eye doctor. :)
Ironically enough, as I was researching doctors, I developed symptoms of strep, so Joe took me to the urgent care center (not having found Dr. Lara yet), where I was diagnosed with acute pharyngitis and given amoxycillin antibiotics. The pharyngitis cleared up in a couple of days, but I dutifully kept taking my antibiotics. Until I developed a head to toe rash. Since the rash began at work, I went to the Disney doctors and found out that I am allergic to amoxycillin. Fun!
Never having had an allergy before, this was all new to me, so I had to call in sick for three days to work as my rash healed and I got off amoxycillin and onto Claritin and Benadryl. I still had my two days off after that, and on the fourth day, my rash cleared up, praise Jesus!
Since I pretty much had a five day weekend, I was able to see Brave in theaters twice, once with a couple of girlfriends, and once with my very own Joe. :) I LOVED the movie, and I highly recommend anybody reading this blog to go see it if you haven't already! :D Aside from watching Brave, there wasn't anything major to report from my extended weekend, mostly because it rained the entire time, due to Tropical Storm Debby. Don't worry though.. by the time I was back at work, she had cleared, and it was hot as ever. Thanks, Debby. :P
Lastly, I recently had an eye exam, and it turns out that I am a perfect candidate for LASIK! After many years of saving up and debate, I have decided to get the procedure done at Filutowski Cataract and LASIK Institute, one of the highest rated in the country, and personally recommended by no less than five friends at work. :D I am so excited, because not only will I get perfect vision without the bother of contacts or glasses, but I was told I would most likely get corrected to 20/15 vision! :D
My LASIK procedure is slated for the end of July, and boy oh boy is July going to be full! My mom is coming with our dear friend Anita, Joe and I are visiting Idaho to see my mom, dad, sister, and best friend Babs, and then we're going to California to meet my other two best friends there, Jess and Reid, along with their adorable daughter Shayla. :D As soon as we get back, I have my LASIK procedure, and that pretty much brings us up to the month of August. Crazy!!
Thank you to all of you who read my blog; you mean more to me than you could possibly know. :) I hope your month of June was wonderful and full of life and love (but no allergies.. ;) ), and I hope and pray that July will be an overabundance of happiness for all of us. Until next month!
Love you!!
Megan
